How Much Does a Case Taping Machine Cost in 2026?

A semi-automatic case sealer for one box size runs about $3,200 to $6,700. Machines that fold the top flaps for you or adjust to mixed box sizes run about $6,300 to $9,700. Fully automatic random-size sealers are quoted per line. A semi-automatic sealer makes sense at 50 to 250 boxes a day.

A Case Sealer, also Called a Case Taper, Tapes the Top and Bottom of a Packed Box in One Pass. Two Questions Set the Price: Does the Operator Fold the Flaps, and Do your Box Sizes Change?

  • Semi-automatic, uniform size, about $3,200 to $6,700. The operator folds the flaps and pushes the box in. Belts carry it through the tape heads. You adjust the machine by hand when the box size changes.
  • Automatic flap-folding, uniform size, about $6,500 to $9,200. Folds the top flaps for you. Best for long runs of one box size, up to about 40 boxes a minute.
  • Semi-automatic, random size, about $6,300 to $9,700. Senses each box and adjusts its width and height on its own. Built for mixed orders, at about 20 boxes a minute.
  • Fully automatic random and integrated lines. Quoted per application, since conveyors and controls vary.

What Drives the Price

  • Uniform vs. Random. Random machines cost more and run slower, because of the extra mechanisms that adjust to each box.
  • Flap folding. Removing the operator from flap folding adds cost.
  • Drive type. Side belts vs. top and bottom belts, based on box weight and size.
  • Tape width. 2-inch heads are standard. 3-inch heads cost more and hold heavy boxes better.

Run the Total Cost Math

Hand taping wastes tape. A crooked first strip gets a second strip, and that box just doubled its tape cost. Strip length varies from person to person.

  1. Count the boxes you tape per day.
  2. Time one box by hand, top and bottom.
  3. Multiply by your loaded hourly rate and working days.
  4. Measure your tape use for one week, then compare it to the machine’s fixed strip length per box.

A case sealer also lays the same tape length with the same pressure every time, so boxes stay closed in transit.

Ask These Questions Before you Buy

  • How many box sizes do I run, and how often do I change sizes?
  • What is my heaviest box?
  • Will the sealer follow a carton erector or a hand-pack station?
  • Which tape works on this machine, and does my box board need a hot melt or acrylic adhesive?
  • How long does a tape roll change take?

How S&S Helps

We sell box sealing tape machines and the carton sealing tape that runs on them, so the tape and the machine are matched. We check floor space and air flow before installing, service every machine we sell, and dispatch a tech the next day. Tell us your box sizes and daily count, and we’ll tell you whether uniform or random fits.
