How Much Does a Stretch Wrapper Cost in 2026?

A new semi-automatic turntable stretch wrapper runs about $9,500 to $17,000. Automatic and inline systems range from $15,000 to $250,000. The machine price matters less than the film it saves: a plant hand wrapping 50 pallets a day spends $7,000 to $15,000 a year on film alone.

Here are the Ranges for New Machines, Before Freight, Installation, and Operator Training.

  • Semi-automatic turntable, $9,500 to $17,000. The pallet spins on a platform while the film carriage moves up and down. An operator attaches and cuts the film. Fits most plants wrapping 20 to 50 loads a day.
  • Semi-automatic rotary arm (straddle), $17,000 to $24,000. The arm circles a pallet that stays still. Use one for heavy, tall, or unstable loads, or when you have no room for a turntable. Expect installation costs on top.
  • Automatic turntable, $15,000 to $45,000. Adds automatic film clamp and cut, so the forklift driver never leaves the seat.
  • Automatic rotary arm, $35,000 to $90,000. Higher speeds, often 40 to 60 loads an hour.
  • Inline system with conveyors, $80,000 to $250,000+. Pallets travel in and out with no operator. Priced as a project, with integration and floor planning.

What drives the price

  • Pre-stretch. A powered pre-stretch carriage stretches film before it hits the load. At 250% pre-stretch, 1 foot of film becomes 3.5 feet on the pallet. This feature pays back faster than any other option.
  • Load size and weight. Turntable capacity, wrap height, and frame duty all raise cost.
  • Automation level. Each step you remove from the operator adds to the price and cuts labor.
  • Environment. Freezers, washdown areas, and multiple shifts call for heavier builds.

Run the Total Cost Math

The sticker price is one line. Film and labor are the rest.

  1. Count the pallets you wrap per day.
  2. Pull last year’s stretch film spend. Hand wrapping 50 loads a day typically runs $7,000 to $15,000 a year.
  3. Machine wrapping with pre-stretch cuts film use by one half to two thirds. On $10,000 of film, that is $5,000 to $6,700 back each year.
  4. Hand wrapping 50 loads a day takes 850 to 1,000 labor hours a year. Multiply by your loaded hourly rate. At $25 an hour, that is $21,250 to $25,000 in labor tied up in walking circles.

Add the film savings to the labor you free up. Divide the machine price by that number. That is your payback in years.

Ask These Questions Before you Buy

  • What pre-stretch percentage does the carriage deliver?
  • What is the maximum load weight and wrap height?
  • Who installs it, and is training included?
  • Who services it, and how fast does a tech arrive?
  • Which film gauge does the machine run best, and what does a roll actually weigh?

How S&S Helps

Before we install a stretch wrapper, we check your floor space and air flow. We service every machine we sell, dispatch a tech the next day, and offer preventive maintenance monthly or annually. We also supply the film, so one supplier owns the result. Send us your pallet count and last year’s film spend, and we’ll run the payback math with you.
